Urban villages are leftovers by urban planning and are commonly inhabited by the poor and transient. Although china’s urban villages are “city” in land registration, most of inhabitants are registered in farm districts and engaged in nonfarm works. Having a lot of problems, they are quite lively in the villages.

「城中村」は都市の再開発の狭間で取り残された、低所得者や農村からの出稼ぎ労働者が集まって暮らす地区である。「城中村」は土地登記においては「都市」であるけれども、住民の大半が「農村戸籍」を持っていて、農村戸籍を持ちながら都市で農業以外の仕事に従事している。たくさんの問題を抱えながら生き生きと暮らしている。
